Safe, Injury-Free Tree Maintenance: Tips for DIY Work

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kerry, and I love to do DIY work around the home. While painting high ceilings and putting in garden beds seems to be easy for me, I find climbing into a tree with a saw to trim branches very scary and potentially dangerous. Luckily, over the years, I have gotten past the fear and have found ways to service my trees safely and efficiently without risking grave injury to myself. Sometimes, I admit that I have to call in the pros, but I'll help you identify when that's a necessity as well. Take a look at these posts. I hope they move, entertain and inform you.

Why Now Is The Best Time To Get Your Dead Trees Removed

Blog

Even within Australia's biggest cities, many trees can still be found in the backyards of nearly every house. Trees are fantastic features that really connect everyone to a more natural atmosphere even when surrounded by such big buildings and infrastructure. However, trees do eventually die for one reason or another, and if one of your trees hasn't survived the previous winter, then you may be wondering what to do with the remaining husk of it. Wherever possible, you should use a tree service that offers tree removal, and here is why now is the perfect time to get it done.

New Growth

Once the tree is removed you probably want to get something new growing in its place, whether that be grass, some shrubbery or even a brand new tree that you can have transplanted into your garden. However, doing this requires certain conditions, and for much of the year, they are not present. Winter is very difficult to start any sort of new growth, which is why spring and summer should be your target areas. With much more moisture and continuous sunlight combining together to create a humid environment, plants of all shapes and sizes thrive even when starting from seedlings.

Recycle The Tree

Some tree services will actually do more than just chop down the tree; they will mulch it down for you. This allows you to recycle all the remaining nutrients in the tree and gives your garden a much-needed feed in quite a tropical time of year. At the very worst, you can always store the mulch for a later date, or you can allow the tree removal company to take it with them. If you want your garden to flourish but don't want to bring in dozens of bags of nutrients and fertilizer, then just use the material already available to you.

Becomes More Dangerous

The longer dead trees are left alone, the more likely they are to pose a threat at some stage. With such a strong La Nina weather pattern over most of Australia, it seems quite reckless to leave the old tree up for longer than is necessary. All it will take is one very strong wind to push it over, and at that point, it could fall anywhere. The last thing you want to do is endanger someone you love or one of your neighbours, so make sure to get it removed properly.
